Thanks to my brother Josh, I’ve got a band to rave about – The Brilliant Green. They’re a Japanese alt-rock band, strongly influenced by american-alternative / brit-pop music, and to my suprise I found were rated in the 10 Ten Bands of All Time!

The first song I heard was “Ai no Ai no Hoshi” (listen), from their album Terra2001. It’s fantastic! I’d love to buy the album but at �22 on import it is a bit too pricey :(

So anyway I looked for a translation of the song lyrics and they didn’t disappoint :)

I’ve checked out some others and they’re really good! I highly recommend “I’m So Sorry Baby”, “Rainy Days Never Stays” and “The Angel Song”.

Well Big Brother started its sixth series last night, and having watched the contestants enter the house I have to say I was disgusted at how some of the participants described themselves (on their “promo” videos).

Hairdresser Craig, 20, from Norfolk, set up his own salon aged 19. “I love destroying people’s lives and take great delight in seeing other people unhappy,” he said.

We worry about the horrid and confrontational culture taking over Britain but then air a programme that celebrates individuals who “love destroying people’s lives and take great delight in seeing other people unhappy”, are “too loud, confrontational and [bitchy]“, describe themselves as “rude and obnoxious” or “a gossiper, a bitch, two-faced, loud, shallow, materialistic and thick”. Good work, Channel 4.

I would like to hope they’re playing up for the camera, but something tells me that isn’t the case. I hope I am proved wrong.
